We supply single-core copper PVC building wire under BV/60227 IEC 01 and H07V-U, 450/750V, for conduit, trunking and fixed house/commercial wiring. Solid Class 1 as standard, stranded on request, with IEC/GB/HD technical data, mill test reports, wholesale coils, drums and OEM print.
1. What this product covers
PVC insulated building wire for fixed installation is the simplest but most specification-sensitive cable in electrical projects. We focus on:
-
BV / 60227 IEC 01: Chinese GB/T 5023.3 and IEC 60227-3 single-core non-sheathed wire, rigid copper, PVC insulation, 450/750V. Solid Class 1 standard; Class 2 stranded available.
-
H07V-U: harmonized/harmonized-style single-core solid copper, 450/750V, PVC insulation, mainly for European, Middle East, African and Asian projects that procure by HD/HAR-type codes.
-
H07V-R: same voltage and PVC family, but stranded rigid; used when solid 10mm² is too stiff for long conduit pulls.
-
BVR / H07V-K: flexible building/panel wire, not sold as BV/H07V-U because conductor class is different.
All these are unsheathed single cores. They are not for direct burial, not for open outdoor exposure without conduit/UV protection, and not for continuous flexing.
2. Technical parameters, 450/750V solid copper PVC
Reference values for Class 1 solid conductor, PVC/C 70°C insulation. Figures follow IEC 60227-3, IEC 60228 and common HD 21/EN 50525 data.
| Size | Conductor construction | Nominal insulation thickness | Approx. outer diameter | Max. DC resistance 20°C | Reference ampacity* |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1.5 mm² | 1×1.38 mm solid | 0.7 mm | 2.6–3.2 mm | 12.1 Ω/km | 15–18 A |
| 2.5 mm² | 1×1.78 mm solid | 0.8 mm | 3.2–3.9 mm | 7.41 Ω/km | 20–25 A |
| 4 mm² | 1×2.25 mm solid | 0.8 mm | 3.6–4.4 mm | 4.61 Ω/km | 30–35 A |
| 6 mm² | 1×2.76 solid | 0.8 mm | 4.1–5.0 mm | 3.08 Ω/km | 40–45 A |
| 10 mm² | 1×3.57 mm solid | 1.0 mm | 5.3–6.4 mm | 1.83 Ω/km | 55–65 A |
*Ampacity is a planning reference only. Real current capacity changes with installation method, conduit fill, ambient temperature, grouping, cable depth and local wiring code. In hot climates or bundled conduit, apply derating instead of using the table value directly.
Other electrical data:
-
Rated voltage U₀/U: 450/750V. Factory routine/type test voltage for 450/750V building wire is commonly 2500V AC; some supplier regimes quote higher sample-test values, so contract test voltage should be agreed by standard.
-
Normal conductor temperature: 70°C for standard PVC.
-
Short-circuit maximum: 160°C for up to 5 seconds, subject to starting temperature and protective device.
-
Installation ambient: not below 0°C for ordinary PVC; low-temperature compound available.
-
Bending radius: rigid single core often quoted 4× overall diameter for small sizes, larger factors for bigger diameters; confirm by final OD and site condition.
-
Flame performance: standard PVC can be supplied to IEC 60332-1; flame-retardant, low-smoke or LSZH versions are separate quotations.
-
Standards: IEC 60227-3, IEC 60228 Class 1/2, HD 21/EN 50525-2-31 for H07V-U-type supply, GB/T 5023.3 and GB/T 3956 for BV supply, plus CE/CCC/ROHS/ISO documents according to market.
3. Residential and commercial selection guide
For fixed house wiring, buyers usually do not need the full 1–400mm² range. The useful building range is 1.5–10mm² for branch circuits and 16–35mm² for sub-main/panel feeds.
-
1.5 mm²: lighting circuits, switch wires, small control wiring. In many home standards it is the default lighting size.
-
2.5 mm²: general sockets, small appliances, ordinary power outlets. Most residential socket rings/spurs use 2.5mm² where local code permits.
-
4 mm²: kitchen sockets, 1.5–3HP AC, electric water heater, oven feeder where load exceeds 2.5mm².
-
6 mm²: large split AC, central AC branch, instant water heater partial loads, sub-circuit to annex.
-
10 mm²: EV charger branch, large AC, panel-to-panel sub-feed, high-load apartment distribution.
-
16/25/35 mm²: main feeders, riser, commercial sub-distribution. Solid becomes stiff above 10mm², so many projects use H07V-R/Class 2 or switch to sheathed/XLPE cables.
Color practice for export:
-
Phase/live: brown or red as European/Asian retail preference; black/grey also common in project specs.
-
Neutral: blue.
-
Earth: green-yellow only.
-
Custom RAL or regional color sets available with MOQ.
4. Price parameters, written as a buying model
PVC building wire price is copper-driven, so static “price list” numbers become outdated quickly. We quote using a transparent model instead of a template.
Indicative China reference prices
These are not export offers; they show order-of-magnitude differences by size and channel.

Export platform sample: one 4mm² H07V-U/BV solid listing showed USD 0.39/m under specific MOQ/packaging terms; this is a single-supplier sample, not a market average. Wholesale marketplace listings for mixed BV/H07V-U often start at 1,000m MOQ with negotiable USD prices because copper and certification change the final number.
How we calculate export quotation
Export price per km ≈
copper weight (kg/km) × copper price (USD/kg) × yield/scrap factor
-
PVC compound cost
-
drawing/annealing/extrusion/spark-test labor and energy
-
printing, coil/drum packing, inspection
-
certification/third-party test if required
-
margin and incoterm cost.
Approximate solid-copper content for planning: 1.5mm² ≈14.4kg/km, 2.5mm² ≈24kg/km, 4mm² ≈38–46kg/km including overall cable weight, 6mm² ≈58–66kg/km, 10mm² ≈96–110kg/km depending on insulation and stranding. If copper spot moves from USD 8.5/kg to USD 9.5/kg, the raw copper portion of 2.5mm² changes by about USD 24/km, or USD 0.024/m, before any other adjustment.
What changes the final unit price
-
Copper index: LME or domestic copper average over the pricing window. Spot orders held 3–7 days; contract orders use agreed index/clause.
-
Solid vs stranded: BV/H07V-U solid is cheaper than H07V-R and much cheaper than H07V-K flexible.
-
Size mix: full container of one size is cheaper per meter than 1.5/2.5/4/6/10 mixed colors.
-
Packing: 100m retail coil has higher unit packing cost than 500m coil or 1000m drum.
-
Certification: CE/ROHS/ISO lowest addition; CCC for China-bound stock; VDE/HAR/SASSO/SABS/other local approvals add testing and documentation.
-
Compound: standard PVC 70°C cheapest; flame-retardant, low-smoke zero-halogen, UV-stabilized or 90°C compound adds material cost.
-
Color count: three-color residential set cheaper than eight project colors in small runs.
-
Incoterms: EXW cheapest base, FOB adds local handling, CIF adds ocean freight/insurance.
For budgeting only, standard export BV/H07V-U solid PVC often falls in roughly:
-
1.5mm²: low USD x0.x per m for large drum orders; retail coil higher
-
2.5mm²: low–mid USD x0.x per m in volume; small 100m coils higher
-
4mm²: around USD 0.30–0.60/m volume reference; platform samples vary widely
-
6mm²: mid USD x0.x–x.x per m depending on coil/drum
-
10mm²: higher single-digit-to-double-digit USD per 100m for standard solid; LSZH/certified drums extra
These ranges are intentionally broad because copper, certification and freight dominate. Send size, color, length per coil, destination port and required documents for a working FOB/CIF number.
5. Packing, MOQ and delivery
-
Coil: 100m standard for retail/distributor; 200m/500m for contractor.
-
Drum: 500m/1000m wooden or plastic reel for project bulk; sequential meter marking available.
-
Mixed container: 1.5/2.5/4/6/10mm² in one 20ft/40ft container is normal for building-wire importers.
-
Stock BV/H07V-U standard colors: 7–15 days for small wholesale reorder.
-
Fresh production: 15–30 days; certified VDE/CCC/third-party inspection adds 10–20 days depending on size scope.
-
MOQ: stock print from 1,000m per size/color for trial; economical wholesale usually 10,000m+ per size; OEM print higher because of coil labeling and packing setup.
6. Quality control for repeated wholesale supply
Each lot is controlled for fixed-wiring consistency:
-
Copper rod resistivity and conductor diameter before insulation.
-
Solid conductor held to IEC 60228 Class 1 / GB/T 3956 Class 1 diameter.
-
PVC insulation thickness by size: 0.7mm at 1.5, 0.8mm at 2.5/4/6, 1.0mm at 10 as standard nominal.
-
Laser diameter/eccentricity check, online spark test.
-
DC resistance per lot: 1.5≤12.1, 2.5≤7.41, 4≤4.61, 6≤3.08, 10≤1.83 Ω/km at 20°C.
-
Finished coil length verification, batch number, voltage, size, standard and production date print.
-
Optional SGS/TÜV/project-inspector witness before container loading.
Mill test certificate is issued per lot. We do not issue generic “all sizes approved” certificates because resistance, thickness and flammability must match the actual ordered construction.
7. FAQ
Q1. Is BV the same as H07V-U?
Same application family, different designation system. BV is usually GB/T 5023.3 and IEC 60227-3; H07V-U is the harmonized 450/750V solid-code version. A factory can make identical physical wire and print both marks only when the construction is made and certified to both standards. For pure IEC markets, 60227 IEC 01 is enough; for European/HAR-procurement buyers, H07V-U marking is expected.
Q2. Which size for home sockets and AC?
Use 1.5mm² for lighting, 2.5mm² for general sockets, 4mm² for kitchen/AC/water-heater branches, 6mm² for large AC/instant heater subfeed, 10mm² for EV charger or panel subfeed. Final size must be checked against load, breaker, cable length and local code, not by rule of thumb alone.
Q3. Why does 10mm² H07V-U cost much more than 2.5mm², but not exactly 4×?
Copper weight is roughly 4×, but insulation, extrusion, drum packing, stiffness handling and slower turnover also affect price. Solid 10mm² is stiffer, so some buyers switch to 10mm² H07V-R stranded, which costs more again.
Q4. Can I get a fixed price for one year?
For small stock orders, no—copper changes daily. For annual framework supply, we use a copper-index clause: base processing cost fixed, copper portion adjusted by agreed average. This keeps quotations realistic without weekly re-pricing of labor and packing.
Q5. Do you supply direct-burial building wire?
Standard BV/H07V-U single core is not for direct burial. It must be in conduit, trunking or enclosed installation. For underground/outdoor runs we quote sheathed PVC cable, XLPE cable or armored cable separately.
Q6. What certifications are realistic for export?
ISO and factory test report as standard; CE Low Voltage Directive and ROHS for many markets; CCC if China-bound; VDE/HAR for European harmonized resale; SASO for Saudi; other national approvals case by case. Certification cost depends on size range and compound, so tell us the exact destination before requesting H07V-U with approval marks.
Q7. How do I avoid under-sized or over-priced wire when importing?
Require marked cross-section, standard, voltage, batch number and mill test report. Check conductor diameter and DC resistance rather than only price. A cheap quote with thinner copper or recycled PVC usually fails resistance, insulation thickness and flame tests later.
Q8. What is better for long conduit runs, BV solid or H07V-R stranded?
Solid BV/H07V-U is cheaper and better for fixed termination. Stranded H07V-R pulls easier in long or elbow-heavy conduits and stays manageable at 6–10mm², but costs more and must be terminated carefully to avoid stray strands. For panel internal jumps, flexible BVR/H07V-K is better than solid.
Q9. How should distributors start a first order?
Send target market, required marks (BV only / H07V-U only / dual), sizes and colors, coil length, monthly volume, destination port and certifications. We propose a starter assortment—usually 1.5/2.5/4/6/10 in phase/neutral/earth color sets—with separate retail-coil and project-drum pricing.
Q10. Does price include wooden drum return?
Ex-works price can include standard disposable drum or reusable drum at extra cost. For retail export, 100m coils are usually palletized; for project export, 500–1000m drums are quoted separately because drum type affects freight.
If you share required sizes, colors, coil length, certification and destination port, we can return a BV/H07V-U 450/750V quotation with copper-index pricing instead of a fixed template list.
